Quick and Easy Makeup Tips

Writer's picture: IYLIYL

If you are anything like me, then your makeup routine takes longer than the activity you are about to do. Sometimes, most of the time, this is not sensible.

Because of this reason, I have different “degrees” of makeup.

Night out on the town (Buckhead, Dive Bar) – 5th degree

Thanksgiving at Grandma’s house – 4th degree

Dinner and a Movie (AMC, student discount) – 3rd degree

Lunch with friends (Chipotle after class with my one friend) – 2nd degree

Class/”Hurry up, you have 15 minutes” – 1st degree

So, for this blog, I am going to give you my tricks on doing what I call a 1st degree look.

Step 1: Eliminate extra products

For a quick and easy look, you cannot use every brush, pencil, product, and applicator in your 5-pound makeup bag. You must first eliminate all products within their category. Only use one eyeshadow brush, one applicator, one lip product, one facial product, etc.

Step 2: Concealer instead of Foundation

Foundation takes too long. In a 15-minute span, there is no time to prime, apply foundation, and conceal. A good concealer can do the trick for this quick and easy look. Just apply some triangles under the eyes, a few spots over any blemishes, and a couple lines on the forehead. Grab your applicator sponge (leave the brushes in the bag, and you are ready, set, go; instead of ready prime, dry, apply, set wait, cover, go.

Step 3: Chapstick instead of Lipstick

Lipstick adds on a lot of time, and often can be overbearing to a quick and easy look. I always opt for Chapstick in a situation like this. If you still want to add color, outline your lips in lipliner then apply the Chapstick for a quick and easy finish. This will leave your lips feeling moisturized with a hint of color as well, and without all of the messiness and time that lipstick can add on.

Step 4: Bronzer as Eyeshadow

This is one of my favorite tricks. If there is no time to pull out the different eyeshadow pallets, just grab your go-to bronzer and apply a little bit in the crease of your upper eyelid and under your bottom lash line. This will accent your eyes, while saving you loads of time searching for the perfect nude color. Sweep that same bronzer on your cheekbones, and you have just rung two bells at once.

Step 5: Eyebrows and Mascara

Now everyone knows you cannot scrap on your eyebrows and mascara. The last 5 minutes of this quick and easy look (1/3 of the process) should be allocated to focusing on doing your eyebrows and eyelashes in any way you want. For me, I choose to just fill my eyebrows in quickly then apply a light brown mascara to my eyebrows; instead of, outlining and filling as I normally would. However, if your eyebrows are your main focus, you have 5 minutes left to perfect!

I hope these quick and easy tips help you guys! These allow me to cut my makeup routine down by about 45 minutes. Please leave a comment on your top tricks to a 1st degree makeup look!
