1. Meet New People
Meeting someone new that could be a potential friend is always an exciting experience. College is all about making new friends and getting out of your comfort zone! Even if you don’t have the confidence now, go out and try to meet some new people. Eventually, it will become more comfortable and you will gain confidence.
2. Study
The whole point of college is to learn things, right? Studying and actively learning things will not only help you on tests, but will also give you many new opportunities. Being the smart person in class will ensure your classmates notice you and might even get you some new study buddies! Talking to people in these low-pressure environments will help you to feel more confident in conversations outside of the classroom as well. Also, being knowledgeable on different topics makes you more interesting to speak to and will help you be more confident speaking about those topics to others!
3. Hydrate
People are constantly telling us to drink more water. It seems silly, but water is just one aspect of health that can change how you feel and look. Even just the act of purposefully going out of your way to take care of your body can give you more confidence. Being on top of your water intake will give you that extra boost to feel and look your best.
4. Find a new Hobby
Having your own special ‘thing’ can help you gain confidence by knowing you are great at something. Hobbies also make for great conversation starters that you feel comfortable speaking about. Knowing that you are good at something and taking the time just to do something that you love is a great way to improve your confidence.
5. Dress for You
Nothing improves self-confidence like an outfit that makes you feel on top of the world. College is a great time to experiment with your style and find what clothes make you feel your best. Feeling and looking your best is bound to make anyone feel more confident. Also, standing out and getting compliments on your clothes will only boost your ego! Clothes are a great way of self-expression and acceptance.
6. Exercise and Eating Right
As I mentioned before, simply taking the steps to take care of yourself is enough to boost your confidence. Creating healthy habits in college will help to set up the entire rest of your life for health and being confident in your own skin. If you frequently think about getting back to running or cutting out gluten, because you know it’s not good for you - now is the time to do it! Making and keeping promises to yourself will prove that you are worthy of love and should be confident in being you.
7. Positive Thoughts
Turns out what is going on in our heads really does affect what you see in the outside world. If you find yourself thinking about all the things wrong with what you see in the mirror, you will never be able to be confident! Trying to turn your thoughts into positive ones about yourself takes time and is no easy feat, but eventually your outside view of yourself will change over time. If you want to be confident, you can’t keep tearing yourself down!
